Isn’t it nice to know you have a safety net?

For enhanced security—and convenience—the login for your Surest account is changing to HealthSafe ID® (HSID).

What does this mean?

Your existing Surest account username and password will no longer work. Your HealthSafe ID (HSID) will be the new login credentials for your Surest account.

Say what?

To access your Surest account, you need to set up an HSID which will become your new username and password to view and use the Surest app or Benefits.Surest.com.

Why HSID?

HSID adds another layer of security to protect your account information using dual-factor authentication.

How is this convenient?

If you’ve ever had an HSID with UnitedHealthcare or Optum, you’ll now use the same username and password to sign into Surest. HSID uses a single set of sign-in credentials across UnitedHealth Group (our parent company) so you can easily access benefits information—from multiple sites—using one username and password.

Not sure if you have an HSID?

If you encounter an error when logging in, you’ll be directed to a “Forgot username” or “Forgot password” link to access an existing account. Or click on the HSID hyperlink for additional information.

HSID FAQs

What is HSID?
HSID is a leading technology that uses dual-factor authentication to safeguard member account information across UnitedHealth Group companies like UnitedHealthcare, Optum, and now Surest. HSID is the new username and password to log in to your Surest account, as well as other UnitedHealth Group health benefits for added ease and convenience.
Why is Surest switching to HSID?
HSID adds another layer of security to protect member account information using dual-factor authentication. HSID is also a single set of sign-in credentials used across UnitedHealth Group (i.e., UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Surest) so members can easily access benefits information using one username and password.
What if I already have an HSID or try to create a new HSID when I already have one?
If you’ve ever had an HSID with UnitedHealthcare or Optum, use the same username and password to sign in to Surest. If you try to create a new account using existing credentials, you’ll see a message: “Please use your existing HealthSafe ID username and password to sign in” and will be automatically redirected back to the login screen where you can proceed with your HSID account. If you forgot your username or password, you can click the “forgot username or password” for recovery.
Where can I use my HSID?
Use your HSID anytime you sign in to view or use your Surest plan online via the app or Benefits.Surest.com. Your HSID username and password will also work as your login for other UnitedHealth Group websites (i.e., UnitedHealthcare and Optum).
What if I can’t remember my username and password?
If you forgot your HSID username and password, click “Forgot username and password” and follow the instructions.
How can I change my password, email, phone number, and security questions?
After signing in to your Surest account, go to “Account”, select “Personal info” and then “HealthSafe ID” to update your details.
What if I update my password, but the new password doesn’t work?
Click “Forgot password” to follow the password reset process. You will be asked to enter your username and then complete two-factor authentication with an SMS message, phone call, or security questions.

What if I am locked out of my Surest account?

After five attempts, your account will be locked for security purposes. You will need to contact Member Services via chat, email, or at the number on the back of your Surest member ID card for assistance.
